Do you want to ingest your placenta, but aren’t quite sure how to do it? Try putting it into a smoothie! The recipes all follow the same basic formula: fruit, maybe some veggies, a sweetener, milk or yogurt, ice cubes... and the placenta. (Note: It will help if you have a good, strong blender, like a Vitamix.)

Remember to consume the placenta within the first 2-3 days or put it in the freezer, where it will keep for up to 6 months.

Here are some pretty basic Placenta Smoothie Recipes to help you started:

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

2 cups of frozen strawberries
1 banana
5-6 ice cubes
2 cups almond milk or kefir
1 T of honey or maple syrup
1 cup of cubed placenta meat

Blend the frozen berries and the banana first, then add ice cubes, juice and honey. Blend in the placenta at the end.

Fruit and Veggie Smoothie

1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana
1 carrot
1/2 cup spinach or kale
1/2 milk or kefir
1 T flaxseed
1 cup of cubed placenta meat
4-5 ice cubes

Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high for one minute.

Vanilla Yogurt Smoothie

1 cup Greek yogurt
1 banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 tsp vanilla
1 T flaxseed meal
2 T honey
1 cup of cubed placenta meat

This is a good, sweet smoothie. Blend on high for one minute.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

1 cup Greek yogurt
1 banana
3 T peanut butter
1 T cocoa powder
¼ cup honey
1 cup of cubed placenta meat

Blend on high until smooth.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

1 cup coconut milk
1 cup pumpkin puree
2 tsp cinnamon
1 apple, cored
1 banana
5-6 ice cubes
1 cup of cubed placenta meat

Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high for one minute.

Or, just take your favorite smoothie recipe and add placenta to it. Just add a little more of whatever liquid you’re using to even out the consistency.

Happy eating!

So smart, my daughter's smoothie helped her. My friend just had her baby girl.
Making a smoothie for her. Wise & smart to take advantage of all of the medicine so to say in the placenta. Nice to be empowered and healthy, make good choices Mammas!

I love these simple smoothie combos! I encapsulate placentas and offer smoothies with small raw chunks of placenta (daily for the first 3 days, postpartum). I would recommend doing 1 inch pieces of frozen placenta and not the suggested amount in these recipes. Thanks for these flavor suggestions. I have a client in labor now.
